Victoria finally talked.
Not because she wanted forgiveness.
Because Richard had abandoned her.
The moment the archive became evidence, her father stopped answering her calls.
For the first time in her life, Victoria realized she might be sacrificed too.
She sat across from Nathan in the library.
Grace remained nearby.
Detective Reyes recorded everything.
Victoria described the real arrangement.
The Cole-Vale merger had never been about marriage alone.
Richard Vale had been laundering stolen corporate funds through joint projects for almost two decades.
Charles discovered it.
Richard threatened to expose Charles as an accomplice.
Some of the transactions had carried Charles’s signature.
Whether he understood them at the time no longer mattered.
A criminal case could have destroyed Cole Meridian.
So Charles agreed to protect the partnership.
Nathan was supposed to marry Victoria.
Their future children would eventually inherit both companies.
The families would become legally and financially inseparable.
Then Grace became pregnant.
Lily threatened the entire inheritance structure.
Nathan felt disgusted.
“She was a baby.”
Victoria looked down.
“To them, she was a voting share with a heartbeat.”
Grace shut her eyes.
Nathan asked.
“Why did you sign Project Lark?”
Victoria answered slowly.
“My father told me Grace was unstable.”
“You knew that was false.”
“Eventually.”
“When?”
Victoria looked at Lily’s file.
“Three years ago.”
Nathan stood.
“You knew.”
“I knew there were fabricated records.”
“And you did nothing.”
“I was afraid.”
Grace’s laugh was soft.
“So was I.”
Victoria looked at her.
Grace continued.
“The difference is I used my fear to keep Lily alive.”
Victoria had no answer.
Detective Reyes asked about the archive fire.
Victoria named Richard’s head of security.
Marcus Dean.
He knew the estate’s service tunnels.
Reyes immediately issued an alert.
Then Daniel found something else.
A codicil to Charles Cole’s will.
It had never been filed.
Nathan read it.
If Nathan Cole is confirmed to have a biological child born before the date of his marriage, twenty-eight percent of Charles Cole’s controlling shares transfer into trust for that child.
Grace covered her mouth.
Nathan understood.
Lily did not merely threaten Victoria’s future inheritance.
She already owned part of Cole Meridian.
If the codicil was valid, she was potentially worth hundreds of millions.
Victoria whispered.
“That is why my father wanted her gone.”
Nathan stared at the document.
Then Daniel pointed to another clause.
“If the child is unlawfully concealed, harmed, or stripped of inheritance through fraud, all Vale-controlled partnership options automatically terminate.”
Nathan slowly looked up.
His father had not only confessed.
