Chapter 13 - THE LAST ESCAPE

Fire rolled across the floor in a bright wave.
“Move!” Gabriel shouted.
Police pulled Victoria toward a side door while Marcus grabbed the folder from the ground. A burning beam crashed between them.
Smoke swallowed the hangar.
Marcus could hear Gabriel coughing somewhere to his left.
He followed the sound, kicked open a maintenance panel, and found a narrow service exit behind the wall.
“Over here!”
One by one, they forced their way outside.
Victoria was the last person dragged through, still fighting the officers.
“You do not understand what will happen!” she screamed at Marcus. “The board will tear you apart. The press will destroy Khloe. Your child will inherit a war.”
Marcus held the rescued folder against his chest.
“Then I will teach my child not to become you.”
Firefighters arrived as the roof collapsed.
Inside the folder were original maintenance reports, private bank transfers, and handwritten instructions connecting Victoria to Daniel’s crash.
There was also a second will.
This one contained a clause nobody had seen.
If any trustee attempted to harm the future heir, all trustee voting rights transferred immediately to the child’s mother.
Khloe did not have to wait for the birth.

By sunrise, she controlled the family empire Victoria had tried to protect.
When Khloe received the news, she did not celebrate. She asked for the hospital chapel to remain open and sat there alone for ten minutes. Power had come to her through violence and betrayal. She promised herself it would not remain shaped by either one.
