Chapter 14 - THE BOARDROOM REVERSAL
Three days later, Khloe entered the Thorne Global boardroom in a wheelchair, not because she was weak, but because her doctor had ordered strict rest.
Marcus pushed her to the head of the table.
Every director stood.
Isabella had been charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy. Nolan faced evidence tampering and attempted destruction of records. Malcolm entered witness protection after surrendering documents. Victoria remained in custody without bail.
But several board members still expected Khloe to step aside.
Chairman Robert Vale cleared his throat. “Given your condition, temporary control may be too demanding.”
Khloe placed the will in front of him.
“My condition is the reason I have control.”
A few directors exchanged looks.
Vale tried again. “Victoria’s leadership has been stable for decades.”
“Her leadership included fraud, coercion, and attempted murder.”
The room fell silent.
Khloe announced an independent audit, removed Nolan’s security division, froze suspicious accounts, and created a protected reporting system for employees.
Then she turned to Marcus.
“Your position is under review too.”
He nodded. “It should be.”
The directors stared.
Marcus did not ask his wife to protect him.
He voted in favor of the investigation.
The motion passed.
As the meeting ended, Gabriel called with new medical results.
Khloe’s stress had triggered early contractions.

The boardroom emptied in seconds. Vale, who had questioned her strength moments earlier, held the elevator doors while Marcus rushed her out. Khloe gripped the arms of the wheelchair and whispered to her daughter, “You survived them once. Stay with me a little longer.”
