Chapter 4 - THE BACKUP CAMERA
Owen Price entered the security office and locked the door behind him.
On the center monitor, a grainy reflection showed the luxury suite through the service corridor glass. The image was imperfect, but the movement was clear.
Isabella shoved Khloe.
Khloe backed away.
Isabella advanced.
Then came the kick.
Owen exhaled slowly. “That is enough.”
A technician beside him held up a second phone. “Her message came through the hospital’s guest network. She told someone to delete the backup.”
“Who received it?”
The technician enlarged the account information.
Owen recognized the name immediately.
Nolan Pierce, personal security chief for the Thorne family.
Meanwhile, Nolan was in the underground garage, moving quickly toward the security control room. He used a stolen badge to open a service door and stepped inside.
He found the recording terminal, inserted a flash drive, and began wiping folders.
A progress bar appeared.
Thirty percent.
Fifty percent.
Seventy percent.
Then the lights came on.
Gabriel stood in the doorway with two hospital officers.
“Step away from the terminal,” he said.
Nolan reached toward his jacket.
The officers moved faster, pinning him against the desk.
The flash drive clattered to the floor.
Gabriel looked at the screen.
The deletion had stopped at ninety-three percent.
But one folder was already gone.

Nolan twisted against the officers. "You have no idea who you are crossing," he warned. Gabriel picked up the drive with gloved hands. "I know exactly who," he replied. "The difference is that I am not afraid of her." Nolan’s expression revealed that he was.
