Chapter 10 - The Man Behind the Empire

Alejandro looked toward the ceiling speakers.

Samuel Crane continued calmly.

“I recommend everyone remain where they are.”

“Several members of federal law enforcement are currently approaching the estate.”

For one second, Alejandro felt relief.

Then Crane added.

“They believe you kidnapped your wife.”

Vivian whispered.

“Oh, no.”

Alejandro turned.

“What?”

“That was Rafael’s emergency plan.”

Police sirens sounded in the distance.

Crane spoke again.

“Three years of forged medical records indicate Elena fled an abusive marriage.”

“Witness statements confirm Alejandro threatened her.”

“Financial records show he paid private teams to locate her.”

“And tonight, conveniently, Elena reappears inside his mansion.”

Elena’s face went pale.

“They’re going to blame you.”

Alejandro understood the brilliance of the setup.

He had unknowingly created evidence against himself.

Millions spent searching.

Private security teams.

Secret payments overseas.

Everything could be portrayed as obsession rather than desperation.

Vivian looked toward Elena.

“Crane has been preparing this longer than Rafael.”

Isabel searched the medical files.

“We need original clinic recordings.”

“Where?”

“The underground server room.”

Thomas shook his head.

“Rafael cleared it months ago.”

Isabel looked at Vivian.

“Not all of it.”

Vivian stiffened.

Isabel continued.

“The observation system had a separate backup.”

“You installed it.”

Elena stared at Vivian.

“Where is it?”

Vivian remained silent.

Police lights became visible beyond the gates.

Alejandro stepped closer.

“Vivian.”

“If those recordings prove what happened to Elena, now is the time.”

Vivian’s eyes moved toward the grand staircase.

“There’s a room behind Elena’s old dressing room.”

Alejandro frowned.

“There is no room.”

“There is now.”

They rushed upstairs.

Behind a wardrobe, Vivian pressed a hidden switch.

A steel panel opened.

Inside was a compact surveillance room.

Monitors covered the walls.

Hard drives hummed beneath a desk.

Elena stopped in the doorway.

One monitor displayed years of archived footage.

Hospital rooms.

Corridors.

The underground chambers.

Alejandro clicked a file dated three years earlier.

Elena appeared on screen.

Pregnant.

Drugged.

Crying.

Rafael stood beside the bed.

Then Samuel Crane entered.

His voice was perfectly clear.

“Once the twins are born, we have leverage.”

Alejandro stared at the screen.

Crane continued.

“When Elena signs away the infrastructure trust, Rafael gets Castillo Holdings.”

“And Alejandro?”

Rafael asked.

Crane smiled.

“We send him to prison.”

The police reached the front entrance.

Alejandro grabbed the hard drive.

Vivian suddenly whispered.

“That isn’t the worst recording.”

She opened another folder.

May you like

Its label contained only one date.

The date Alejandro’s father died.
