Chapter 11 - The Death That Built Everything

Alejandro had spent fourteen years believing his father died from a heart attack.

The official report had been uncomplicated.

Natural causes.

No suspicious circumstances.

Now a video file existed from that exact night.

Alejandro pressed play.

The image came from a hidden camera inside his father’s study.

His father, Eduardo Castillo, sat behind his desk.

Samuel Crane stood across from him.

Rafael was there too.

So was Vivian.

But Vivian looked much younger.

Barely twenty.

Eduardo spoke angrily.

“I’m changing the trust.”

Crane responded.

“You can’t.”

“I can do anything with my own company.”

Eduardo turned toward Rafael.

“You forged my signature.”

Rafael’s face was pale.

“It was temporary.”

“You stole thirty million dollars.”

Alejandro stared at the screen.

His father continued.

“Tomorrow morning, Alejandro takes full operational control.”

Rafael stepped forward.

“You always choose him.”

“Because he doesn’t steal from me.”

Then Eduardo opened a drawer.

He removed an envelope.

“I also know about Victor Moretti.”

Vivian on the video stiffened.

“You know who I am?”

Eduardo nodded.

“You’re Elena’s sister.”

Alejandro glanced toward Vivian in the surveillance room.

Tears filled her eyes.

She whispered.

“I didn’t know he knew.”

On screen, Eduardo continued.

“I intended to tell Elena.”

“But Crane advised me not to interfere.”

Samuel Crane’s expression changed.

Then Eduardo suddenly clutched his chest.

He reached for the phone.

Crane calmly removed it from his reach.

Alejandro stopped breathing.

His father fell from the chair.

Rafael stepped backward.

“What did you do?”

Crane placed a small vial into his pocket.

“Nothing that will appear unusual.”

Vivian screamed on the video.

“You poisoned him?”

Crane turned toward her.

“You saw nothing.”

The recording ended.

Silence filled the hidden room.

Alejandro looked at Vivian.

“You knew.”

Vivian shook her head.

“I suspected.”

“You were there.”

“I was nineteen.”

“Crane told me if I spoke, my mother would disappear.”

Alejandro wanted to hate her.

But the fear in her face looked painfully familiar to Elena’s.

Sirens stopped outside.

A loudspeaker ordered Alejandro to exit the mansion.

Elena took his hand.

“We give them everything.”

Before Alejandro could answer, the monitors went black.

A message appeared.

REMOTE ERASE ACTIVATED.

Isabel shouted.

“Someone’s deleting the archive.”

Alejandro looked at the progress bar.

Twelve percent.

Twenty-one.

Thirty-four.

Thomas grabbed the hard drive.

“It’s encrypted.”

Vivian ran toward a wall panel.

“What are you doing?”

“Disconnecting the physical network.”

She ripped open the panel.

Then stopped.

A small red light blinked inside.

Vivian’s eyes widened.

May you like

“Get down.”

The explosion threw everyone across the room.
