Chapter 3 - CAMILA'S LAST MESSAGE

Julián returned home acting broken.

He let Teresa believe the hospital fire had frightened him. He allowed Rodrigo to pour him brandy and say, “This is what happens when grief turns into paranoia.”

But beneath the dining table, Julián switched on a small recorder.

Teresa spoke carefully. Rodrigo did not.

“We should cremate her tonight,” Rodrigo muttered.

“The priest is coming tomorrow,” Teresa said.

“Then move the priest.”

Julián stared into his glass. “Why the rush?”

Rodrigo leaned close. “Because dead women don't need more attention.”

The words landed like a confession disguised as cruelty.

Later, Julián opened Camila's sealed envelope. Inside was a storage key, a handwritten list of bank transfers, and a memory card taped beneath the flap.

He inserted it into his laptop.

Camila appeared on-screen, pregnant and exhausted.

“If you're watching this, they found out I copied the books,” she said. “The vineyard is being drained through fake suppliers. Rodrigo signs the transfers, but Teresa controls the accounts. They plan to sell the land after forcing you to surrender your voting shares.”

She looked over her shoulder.

“And there is something worse. Your father did not die from a heart attack.”

The video cut to black.

A floorboard creaked outside the office.

Julián closed the laptop.

The door opened.

Teresa stood there holding Camila's missing wedding ring.

“I was wondering how long it would take you to find her message,” she said.
