Chapter 4: Elena Walks Out
Alejandro stepped toward his daughter, but he did not touch her until she nodded.
That nearly broke her.
For two years, Santiago had grabbed, ordered, cornered, and controlled. Her father simply waited for permission.
Elena nodded.
Alejandro removed his coat and placed it around her shoulders.
“Come home,” he said.
Santiago rushed forward. “She is my wife.”
Alejandro’s guards moved once. Only once. Santiago stopped.
Elena looked at the man she had married.
“I was your wife,” she said. “But you treated me like property.”
She turned away.
Carmen whispered, “Elena, think of the family.”
