PART 18 — The Secret My Grandfather Buried Could Destroy the Entire Robertson Legacy

PART 18 — The Secret My Grandfather Buried Could Destroy the Entire Robertson Legacy

Nobody spoke after my mother's revelation.

Not one person.

Because sometimes a truth is so massive that your mind needs time to accept it.

My grandfather.

William Robertson.

The man whose name was engraved on every building.

The man who built the empire my family spent generations protecting.

The man everyone remembered as a visionary.

Had secrets.

And those secrets had created everything that was happening now.

My father looked at my mother.

"Eleanor..."

"You said my father knew Marcus."

My mother nodded.

"Yes."

"But not as an employee."

"Then as what?"

She looked down at the notebook.

"As a son."

The room went silent.

"What?"

My father's voice cracked.

My mother took a deep breath.

"Marcus Hale was William Robertson's illegitimate son."

Nobody moved.

Nobody breathed.

Even Daniel looked shocked.

A secret child.

A hidden heir.

A missing branch of the Robertson family tree.

Suddenly everything made sense.

Agent Mitchell spoke first.

"If Marcus is William Robertson's son..."

"He could have a legitimate claim to the estate."

My mother nodded.

"Exactly."

"But William never publicly acknowledged him."

"Why?"

My mother looked at my father.

"Because Marcus's mother discovered William was already married."

"She threatened to expose him."

"What happened?"

"She disappeared."

My father's face changed.

"My father..."

"He covered it up."

My mother nodded.

"And Marcus grew up believing the Robertson family stole his life."

I looked at the notebook.

"So all these years..."

"Marcus wasn't trying to steal the company."

"He believed it belonged to him."

My mother looked at me.

"Yes."

"But he made one mistake."

"What?"

"He became exactly like the people he hated."

A notification appeared on Daniel's phone.

He checked it.

Then his expression changed.

"What happened?"

"We found Marcus."

Everyone immediately turned.

"Where?"

Daniel looked at my father.

"At Robertson Global headquarters."

My father's eyes narrowed.

"Why would he go there?"

Agent Mitchell answered.

"Because he wants the trust."

We rushed back to the city.

But this time...

we weren't chasing an enemy.

We were racing against a deadline.

When we arrived at Robertson Global Tower...

everything felt different.

The building that represented generations of success was surrounded by federal agents.

Employees stood outside.

Reporters filled the street.

The world was watching.

Inside the lobby...

Marcus stood calmly.

Almost peacefully.

He wasn't running.

He wasn't hiding.

He was waiting.

My father walked toward him.

"Marcus."

Marcus smiled.

"Finnley."

"How does it feel?"

"Knowing everything you built was based on a lie?"

My father stopped.

"You hurt innocent people."

Marcus's expression hardened.

"Did I?"

"I exposed the truth."

"You just don't like how painful it is."

I stepped forward.

"Why me?"

Marcus looked at me.

"Because you were the key."

"The perfect contradiction."

I frowned.

"What does that mean?"

"You were both Robertson blood and Richard's daughter."

"You represented everything this family was."

"Secrets."

"Power."

"Lies."

I stared at him.

"And Jasper?"

"A tool."

"Victor?"

"A tool."

"Richard?"

Marcus smiled sadly.

"A broken man who wanted love."

My anger grew.

"You destroyed people's lives."

"No."

He looked at me.

"I revealed what was already broken."

Agent Mitchell stepped forward.

"Marcus Hale."

"You are under investigation for financial crimes, conspiracy, and attempted manipulation of corporate ownership."

Marcus laughed softly.

"Investigation?"

"You still don't understand."

He reached into his jacket.

Everyone reacted instantly.

But he only pulled out a document.

An old document.

The original Robertson Trust Agreement.

My father's face changed.

"Where did you get that?"

Marcus smiled.

"From the person who hid it."

Everyone froze.

"Who?"

Marcus looked at me.

"Your mother."

My mother stepped forward.

"No."

Marcus looked at her.

"Yes, Eleanor."

"You found the truth."

"You hid the document."

"And you made everyone believe you were gone."

I looked at my mother.

"Mom?"

She closed her eyes.

"I didn't want anyone to find it."

"Why?"

"Because it proved something terrible."

Marcus opened the document.

"The trust was never meant for Finnley."

"It was never meant for Richard."

"It was never meant for Hailey."

He looked directly at me.

"It was created for the first Robertson child."

My heart stopped.

"Amelia."

My mother nodded slowly.

"Your grandfather's first daughter."

"The one everyone erased."

Marcus continued.

"And Amelia had a child."

A chill went through me.

"What?"

"My grandfather's granddaughter?"

Marcus nodded.

"The true bloodline never disappeared."

My father looked confused.

"Where is this person?"

Marcus smiled.

"Standing closer than you think."

Everyone looked around.

Then Marcus said:

"The rightful heir of the Robertson Legacy..."

"...is not Hailey."

My heart dropped.

"Then who?"

Marcus turned.

The elevator doors opened behind him.

A woman stepped out.

Older.

Elegant.

Confident.

A woman nobody expected.

My mother whispered:

"No..."

Dad looked stunned.

"Impossible."

The woman smiled.

"Hello, Finnley."

"I think it's time my family finally remembers me."

Marcus stepped aside.

"This is Amelia Robertson."

The room froze.

Because the woman who had supposedly died decades ago...

was standing alive in front of us.

May you like

And she had come to claim everything.
